Secure telephone payments for Shopify

Shopify logoon Paytia SecureFlow

Take Shopify orders by phone — paid, securely, done. Shopify supports Draft Orders for telephone sales, but it has no supported way to feed securely captured card details into its checkout. Paytia closes that gap: you raise the order as a Draft Order, Paytia captures and processes the card using DTMF masking — nothing seen, heard or keyed by your team — and the moment payment succeeds, a webhook completes the Draft Order as a paid Shopify Order, ready to fulfil.

  • No card details read aloud or keyed in
  • Shopify stays your order platform
  • Orders only completed once paid
  • Failed payments leave the Draft Order open
  • Payment and order records stay linked
  • Signed, verified webhook delivery

How Paytia works with Shopify

The integration is built on the Paytia Open API, so payment can be triggered from the Draft Order and the outcome flows straight back to the same order. Card capture, tokenisation and PCI protection all run on the Paytia SecureFlow platform — Paytia connects to Shopify only to take the order reference and write the payment back. Here's the five-stage flow.

  1. 1

    Create the Draft Order

Prepare the customer, products, prices, discounts, taxes and delivery as a Shopify Draft Order, exactly as you would for any telephone sale. The Draft stays open while the payment is captured.

  2. 2

    Send to Paytia

Paytia receives only the Draft Order ID and number, the amount, currency and description, plus a unique payment reference used to match the webhook later. No card information is passed.

  3. 3

    Capture the card securely

The customer keys their card on their own telephone keypad. DTMF masking hides the numbers from your team, the payment is processed outside Shopify Payments, and nothing is entered into Shopify.

  4. 4

    Payment webhook fires

Paytia sends a real-time webhook with the status and outcome, transaction and authorization references, amount, currency and timestamp — and identifies the Draft Order. No sensitive card data.

  5. 5

    Complete the Order

The integration validates the sender, amount and currency, then converts the Draft Order into a paid Shopify Order — Paytia references stored — and the order continues into fulfilment.

Why teams choose Shopify with Paytia

Shopify stays in charge of orders

Shopify remains your order-management platform. Paytia protects the payment and reports back — the two stay in their lanes.

Never paid until it's paid

The order is never treated as paid until Paytia confirms a verified, successful outcome. Declined? The Draft stays open. Error or pending? Not completed.

DTMF masking

The customer keys the card on their own keypad and the tones are masked, so your team never hears or sees the numbers and nothing lands in Shopify.

Verified, idempotent webhooks

Webhook delivery is signed and verified, and the completion is idempotent — no duplicate Orders, ever.

Shared references for reconciliation

Paytia's transaction references are stored against the Shopify Order, so payment and order records stay linked and matching is straightforward. Refunds are processed via Paytia.

Part of the SecureFlow platform

The same platform powers Advanced Payment Links, Agent Capture Assist, Web Checkout and bank rails. One account, one set of users, every channel covered — and access is revocable in Shopify.

Shopify + Paytia — common questions

Why can't I just key phone-order cards into Shopify?+

Shopify supports Draft Orders for telephone sales, but it has no supported way to feed securely captured card details into its checkout — and keying a customer's card into Shopify puts card data through your staff and your systems. Paytia captures and processes the payment outside Shopify Payments, then returns the outcome so the Draft Order completes correctly.

Does any card data pass between Shopify and Paytia?+

No, in either direction. Paytia receives only the order reference, amount and currency — never card data — and the webhook that comes back carries status, references and amounts, with no sensitive card data.

What happens if the payment fails?+

The Draft Order stays open. Declined payments leave the Draft open to retry, cancelled or abandoned attempts are retained, and an error or pending outcome never completes the order. Shopify only treats the order as paid on a verified, successful outcome.

How does the order get marked as paid?+

Paytia sends a real-time, signature-verified webhook. The integration validates the sender, amount and currency, converts the Draft Order into a paid Shopify Order, and stores the Paytia references for matching. Completion is idempotent, so there are no duplicate Orders.

How are refunds handled?+

Refunds are processed via Paytia, and because the Paytia references are stored against the Shopify Order, reconciling them is straightforward.

Can I revoke Paytia's access to my store?+

Yes — access is revocable in Shopify whenever you want.
