How do I add Multi-factor Authentication to my account?

MFA adds a second check on top of the password. The toggle is under Account Security then Manage Authentication, and it works with any standard authenticator app.

How to Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in Paytia

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enhances the security of your Paytia account by requiring an additional verification step beyond your username and password. Follow the steps below to enable and configure MFA for your account.


Step 1: Access the Account Security Settings

  1. Log in to your Paytia administrative portal.
  2. Navigate to Account Security from the menu.
  3. Click on Manage Authentication.

Step 2: Enable Multi-Factor Authentication

  1. Locate the Multi-Factor Authentication Enable toggle.
  2. Click on the toggle to enable it. It will switch from red (disabled) to green (enabled).
  3. A confirmation pop-up will appear asking, Are you sure you wish to enable multi-factor authentication?
  4. Click Yes, please to proceed.

Step 3: Set Up an Authenticator App

  1. You will be redirected to the Install the authenticator app for Paytia page.
  2. Ensure you have an authenticator app installed on your mobile device, such as:
    • Google Authenticator
    • Microsoft Authenticator
    • Authy
  3. Click Next to proceed.

Step 4: Pair Your Account with the Authenticator App

  1. A QR code and a setup key will be displayed.
  2. Open your authenticator app and select Add a new account.
  3. Scan the QR Code or enter the setup key manually.
  4. Once added, the app will generate a 6-digit verification code.
  5. Click Next to continue.

Step 5: Verify Your Authentication Setup

  1. Enter the 6-digit code displayed on your authenticator app.
  2. Click Submit to confirm.
  3. If successful, you will see a confirmation message stating that MFA has been activated.

Step 6: Managing Multi-Factor Authentication for Users

  1. In the Manage Authentication section, you will see a list of users.
  2. Users with MFA disabled will have a red "Disabled" status.
  3. To enable MFA for users:
    • Select the user from the list.
    • Click Update Setting.
    • Their status will change to "Enabled" (green).

Step 7: Logging in with Multi-Factor Authentication

  1. On the login screen, enter your email address and password.
  2. You will be prompted to enter an authentication code.
  3. Open your authenticator app, retrieve the 6-digit code, and enter it.
  4. Click Login to access your Paytia account.

Troubleshooting & Support

  • If you lose access to your authenticator app, contact Paytia support at techsupport@paytia.com to reset your MFA.
  • Ensure your device time settings are correct, as incorrect time synchronization can cause invalid authentication codes.
