Configuring SIP as a Service from Paytia

To set up a SIP trunk connection between your telephone system and Paytia's SIP as a Service product, you need to configure several essential settings. This guide provides a step-by-step breakdown of the configuration requirements.

Configuration Details

1. IP Addresses

  • Your IP Address: Provide the IP address that your telephone system uses for outbound calls to Paytia. This is necessary for Paytia to recognize your system as a trusted source.
  • Paytia’s SIP Endpoint: Configure your system to connect to the Paytia SIP IP endpoint: 52.51.166.39.
    • This elastic IP address supports Paytia’s load-balanced services.

Action: If you are an existing Paytia user, complete the IP Registration Form to register your telephone system.

2. Firewall Ports

To ensure smooth communication, configure your firewall to allow the following ports:

  • SIP Signaling:
    • UDP port: 5060 (for SIP)
    • TCP port: 5061 (for TLS/SIPS)
  • Media Ports: Specify a range of ports for media transmission, such as UDP 10,000 – 20,000. Confirm this range with Paytia to ensure compatibility.

3. Codecs

Codecs determine how audio is compressed and transmitted during calls. Paytia supports the following codecs, in order of preference:

  • G.711 A-law

Note: Ensure the codec on your telephone system matches Paytia's settings for successful communication.

4. SIP URL Header Format

Paytia expects calls to be sent in the following SIP header URL format with e.164 numbering:

sip:+19991234567@voip-provider.example.net

or

sip:+19991234567@Your_Internet_Public_IP_Address

Ensure your PABX is configured to follow this format when sending calls to Paytia.

Note: you can change to using national format with and without the lead zero from the Paytia administrator portal Manage number menu, SIP settings.

5. Presentation Telephone Number (Trunk CLI)

  • The number your system presents as the Caller Line Identification (CLI) for outbound calls must match the telephone number registered in your Paytia account.
  • Paytia uses this number as an additional verification method to accept calls from your system.
