Setting up PayPal for Paytia Agent Capture Assist
To take payments through PayPal with Agent Capture Assist, Paytia needs three API credentials from your PayPal account: an API username, an API password and a signature. Generating them only takes a few minutes. Here's the whole process.
1. Check your account is eligible
PayPal only gives API access to PayPal Premier, Business and Website Payments Pro accounts. If you're on a personal account, you'll need to upgrade it before going any further.
2. Open the API credential settings
The quickest route is this direct link: PayPal API Access.
If the link doesn't work for you, log in to your PayPal Business account, click the profile icon in the top-right corner where your username is displayed, and choose Account Settings from the dropdown menu.
3. Go to API Access
Scroll down to the Account Access section and click Update next to API Access.
4. Manage your API credentials
Find the section for NVP/SOAP API Integration (Classic) and click Manage API Credentials.
5. Request an API signature
Make sure the radio button for Request API Signature is selected, then click Agree and Submit. PayPal generates your credentials.
6. Copy your credentials
Click Show to reveal the three values you're after: the API username, the API password and the signature. Save them somewhere secure — you're about to enter them into Paytia, and you may want them again later.
7. Enter the credentials in Paytia
Log in to your Paytia account and go to the Gateway Setup section. Enter the API username, API password and signature you got from PayPal, then save the settings.
If something goes wrong
You can log back into PayPal and open the API credentials page again at any time to retrieve the same details. If you're still stuck, contact our support team and we'll walk you through it.
