How do I take payments using Zoom?

The Paytia Payments app sits inside Zoom, so you can take a card payment during a meeting without ever seeing or handling the customer's card number. Here's how it works.

How to take payments using Zoom with Paytia

If you run meetings on Zoom, you can take a card payment without leaving the call. The Paytia Payments app sits inside Zoom itself, so your customer pays during the meeting and you never see or handle their card number.

You'll need two things before you start: a Zoom account, and a Paytia account with the Paytia Payments app installed and configured.

Taking a payment during a meeting

  1. Open your Zoom meeting and go to the Apps section on the right-hand panel. Select Payments by Stripe, Secured by Paytia, then click Start to open the payment interface.

  2. Choose the participant who's paying. Let them know a payment request is on its way — it saves confusion when the form pops up on their screen.

  3. Fill in the payment details: the cardholder's first and last name, a reference number (your own internal or customer-specific identifier), and the amount with its currency. You can capture extra information too, such as billing and shipping addresses.

  4. Submit the request. Your participant sees a secure payment link or form and types their card details straight into it. Everything goes through a PCI DSS-compliant interface, so the details never pass through you or through Zoom's chat.

  5. Watch the status update in real time as the payment moves through Request Sent, Card Details Captured and the processing stage, ending with a result such as "Payment Successful".

  6. Once the transaction goes through, the app shows a confirmation with the payment amount, the transaction ID and a "Complete" status. Your participant gets a confirmation message on their screen at the same moment, so you both know it's done.

That's the whole process. People use it for consultations, services and event fees — anywhere you'd otherwise be chasing an invoice after the call has ended.
