Paytia Launches a Free Card Rate Check
22 September 2026
Paytia has launched a free card rate check for any business that already takes card payments. Send three months of statements and we'll tell you what you're really paying, what you should be paying, and who'll give you that rate. If you switch, the new provider pays us. You pay nothing either way.
The service grew out of a job we did for one of our customers. They sent over three months of card statements, we read them line by line, took the numbers to the payment providers we've worked with for more than a decade, and moved them to a provider with a better rate on every line that mattered. Same cards, same customers, same money arriving in the bank. More than £60,000 a year less in fees.
That wasn't a one-off. Most businesses agreed their card rates once, years ago, and haven't looked since. The rates crept up. New charges appeared on the statement with names nobody explains. The provider has no reason to ring and offer less. So we've made the check something anyone can ask for.
Why Paytia can get a better rate
More than £400 million in card payments has gone through Paytia since 2016, so the providers know the company and the businesses it brings them, and price accordingly. Paytia works every day with Worldpay, Barclaycard, Elavon, Global Payments, Lloyds Cardnet, Tyl by NatWest, Adyen, Stripe, PayPal, Trust Payments and others, and knows what each one charges and how far each will move when asked. And because Paytia doesn't sell card processing itself, it has no rate of its own to push: the same statements can go in front of several providers, who then compete for the business.
The saving usually hides below the headline rate, in authorisation fees, premium and commercial card surcharges, scheme fees, terminal rental, minimum monthly charges, PCI non-compliance fees and how refunds are billed. Paytia reads every one of those lines.
How it works
You send us your last three monthly statements. PDFs are fine, and so are photos if that's all you have. We come back within two working days with a plain summary of what you pay now, including the charges that are easy to miss, and what a business like yours should expect to pay instead. If we can beat it, we show you the offer in writing, with the saving worked out after any cost of leaving your current provider. Then you decide. If you go ahead we handle the switch with you. If you don't, you keep the summary and owe us nothing.
Curtis Nash, Paytia's CEO, said: “We sit between businesses and their payment providers all day, so we know what those providers charge and what they'll agree to when someone who knows the market asks. We've put more than £400 million through those providers, and one customer is already saving over £60,000 a year by letting us look. It seemed wrong to keep that to ourselves. This works for any business paying card fees, whether or not they've ever heard of Paytia.”
How Paytia gets paid
The business doesn't pay us. If they switch, the new provider pays Paytia a commission for the introduction, and that's the only money we make from it. We'd rather say so up front than have anyone wonder. It also means we earn nothing by telling a business to stay where it is, and sometimes that's the right answer.
Who it's for
Any business taking card payments, in person, online or over the phone. The more you take by card, the more there is to save, so it's most worth doing if cards bring in a few hundred thousand pounds a year or more. Smaller than that and we'll still look.
The check is free at paytia.com/card-rate-check.
