How is money paid into my bank?
Your customers' money never touches Paytia — it goes from your payment gateway to your own merchant account and out to your bank. Here's the route it takes and who's involved at each step.
How Your Money Gets Processed to Your Bank Account
As a Paytia secured merchant, the payment process ensures secure and seamless transactions, transferring funds directly to your business bank account. Below is an overview of how this process works:
1. Merchant Account Setup
- When you register with Paytia, you are provided with a direct merchant account through one of our trusted payment or acquiring partners.
- This merchant account includes a unique set of credentials (e.g., Merchant ID, API keys) that securely connect your business with the payment processor.
2. Customer Payment Initiation
- A customer makes a payment using their debit or credit card, either via:
- Phone Payments: Securely processed through Paytia’s platform.
- Payment Links: Customers receive a link to complete payment online.
- The payment details are encrypted and sent securely to the acquiring bank.
3. Payment Authorization
- Paytia submits the payment request to the acquiring partner using your merchant account credentials.
- The acquirer verifies the payment details and communicates with the customer’s card-issuing bank.
- The issuing bank confirms the payment’s validity and availability of funds, authorizing the transaction.
4. Transfer of Funds
- Upon authorization, the acquirer transfers the payment amount from the customer’s card to your merchant account.
- Payment processing fees, as agreed with your acquirer, are deducted from the transaction amount.
5. Funds Settlement to Your Business Bank Account
- The acquirer deposits the net transaction amount (after fees) into your linked business bank account.
- Settlement times may vary depending on the agreement with your payment provider. Most transactions are settled within 1–3 business days.
Key Notes:
- Payment Processing Fees: These include acquirer fees and any other applicable charges, deducted before settlement.
- Secure Transactions: All payments processed through Paytia adhere to PCI DSS compliance standards, ensuring data security.
- Real-Time Reporting: You can monitor the status of payments and settlements via your Paytia admin portal.
By working with trusted acquiring partners and leveraging Paytia’s secure platform, your payments are processed efficiently, providing peace of mind and secure access to your funds.
