Why do my minutes remaining show a minus figure?
You've gone past your plan's allowance. Rather than cut a live call off mid-sentence, we let you borrow minutes and settle up afterwards.
Understanding Negative Call Minutes in Paytia
If your Minutes Remaining display shows a negative figure, here’s what it means and why it occurs.
Why Does the Balance Show Negative Minutes?
Negative minutes indicate that your account has exceeded the allocated secure call minutes for your plan. Paytia has a safeguard in place to ensure your call is not interrupted mid-conversation. Instead of cutting off the call, the system temporarily allows you to borrow additional minutes to complete the active call.
What Happens Next?
-
Automatic Adjustment
After exceeding the allocated minutes, your account's usage will reflect a negative balance until your subscription is updated or the balance is reset. -
Refilling Minutes
To avoid further interruptions or negative balances:- Purchase additional Top-up Minutes through the Subscription and Billing menu.
- Alternatively, upgrade your subscription plan for a higher monthly allocation of secure call minutes.

Preventing Negative Balances
To ensure smooth operations and uninterrupted calls:
- Monitor Usage
Regularly check your remaining call minutes in the Paytia admin portal to stay informed about your balance. - Set Notifications
Enable email or system alerts to notify you when your minutes are running low. - Top-Up Early
Use the Buy Top-Up Call Bundle option in your subscription menu to add minutes before running out.
By understanding how Paytia handles call minute allocations, you can manage your usage effectively and ensure a seamless experience for your business. If you require assistance, please contact Paytia Support.
More in Billing & Account
How can I top-up call minutes?
Top-up bundles live under Subscription and billing in the admin account. The same page shows what you've bought before, with the invoices.
How do I add an additional user license?
Two routes to the same place: Administer users then Users, or Subscription and billing then Add extra features. Both open the same purchase screen.
How do I cancel my Keyphone account?
Deleting a Keyphone account can't be undone. Identity data, transaction records and telephony records all go, and your secure payment number is released — export anything you need first.
How do I cancel my Paytia account?
What actually happens when you delete an account: identity data, transaction history and telephony records are removed, and your secure payment number goes back into the pool.
How do I find an invoice for the service?
Your invoices sit in the management portal at accounts.paytia.com. Here's where to find them and how to download a copy.
How do I register my payment card?
Verify your email first, then add the card that pays for your Paytia subscription. This is your billing card, nothing to do with taking customer payments.
